Lyft is a ride-hailing service that operates in the United States and Canada. You sign up with a phone number, and Lyft texts a code to confirm it. After that, drivers can contact you through the app about a ride.

SMS Activate can rent you a number for the code. It appears on your dashboard. Your wallet is charged when the number is issued, and an order with no SMS inside 20 minutes is refunded to your wallet.

Where Lyft works

Lyft serves the US and Canada. It expects a number from one of those countries. If you try a number from elsewhere, the app may not send a code or may say the number is invalid.

Check that numbers for your chosen country are listed before you pay. Stock changes through the day, and a country that is empty now may have numbers later.

What the number is used for

The number is used to log you in and to reach you about a ride. Through the app, drivers can message or call without seeing your real number in most cases, but the account still carries the number you gave.

For a real ride, make sure you can be reached. A rented number is best for setting up an account ahead of time or for testing.

Account safety

Add an email you check and use a strong password. If the account is used for real rides and payments, change the phone number to one you keep as soon as the setup is done.

Do not share Lyft codes with anyone. Be careful with messages that look like they come from Lyft and ask for a code.

Price and refunds

Prices vary by stock, usually from a few cents to a dollar or two for numbers in the US and Canada. Codes normally arrive within a minute.

If no SMS comes inside 20 minutes, the order is refunded to your wallet. We cannot promise that Lyft will accept a given number, and if one is refused, cancel after two minutes and try another.
