Shopee is an online marketplace that runs in several separate regional markets, mainly in Southeast Asia and parts of other regions. Each market has its own app version and rules. To create an account, you enter a phone number and Shopee sends a code.

Pick the right market first
Shopee accounts belong to one market. An account made in one country is not the same as an account in another, and the app may expect a number from that country. If you open the Indonesian app, for example, it will likely want an Indonesian number.
Before you buy a number, check which market you are using. Then pick a number from the same country. This avoids most refusals.
What the number is for
After sign-up, Shopee uses the number for order updates, delivery notices, and checks on risky logins. Couriers in some markets call the number on delivery.
If you will receive real parcels, use a number that can take calls. A rented number is better for browsing and testing than for a real order.
Possible problems
Shopee can refuse numbers it has seen often. If the app says the number is not valid, cancel after the first two minutes and try another number from the same country.
